The honest answer is that no one has ruled on it yet. Aerogrip is a new category of grip product, so most sports authorities haven't formally reviewed or classified it the way they have chalk, rosin, or tacky substances.

Many of the rules we've reviewed are written to ban substances that leave residue on the ball or equipment. Aerogrip binds to the oils on your skin and dries to a clean, invisible finish — it isn't designed to transfer, and it leaves no visible residue on a ball or surface. So it likely falls outside what those rules were written to address. But "likely" isn't "definitely," and rules vary by sport, league, and event.

Start with a small amount on clean, dry hands. Rub it in firmly and spread it across your palms and fingers until it dries — usually around 10-15 seconds. You'll see a little material shed off as you rub; that's the cue it's working. If nothing sheds, add a bit more. When finished, give your hands a couple quick claps. Most people land on the right amount within a couple of uses.

Aerogrip has to be rubbed in firmly. Work it into your hands until you see a little material shed off — that's excess product binding with your skin's oils and rolling away as you rub. If nothing sheds, you've used too little. Add a bit more and keep rubbing until your hands feel dry and grippy.

No. When applied properly, Aerogrip dries clean and invisible. It won't chalk up your barbell, leave marks on holds, or turn your clothes white. Clean hands, clean gear.

Simply wash with soap and warm water. It rinses off easily without leaving residue.

Aerogrip dries to a soft, natural finish — not the cracked, chalky feel you get after a long chalk session. That said, the formula is ethanol-based, and people with sensitive skin may notice some dryness with frequent use; a little hand moisturizer after washing off takes care of it. The ethanol evaporates on application and can sting if you have open cuts or broken skin, so apply to intact skin.

Yes. The 60ml bottle is under the TSA carry-on liquid limit (100ml / 3.4oz), so it fits in your quart bag. Like other alcohol-based personal care products — including hand sanitizer — it's treated as a toiletry article for air travel. The health concern people raise — silicosis — comes from inhaling crystalline silica dust, the kind produced by cutting stone, concrete, or sand over years of occupational exposure. Aerogrip uses amorphous silica, a different material with a different safety profile. It's the same form of silica found in toothpaste, food, and cosmetics, and it is not associated with silicosis.

Just as important is how Aerogrip works. The silica isn't a loose powder you can breathe in — it's suspended in a liquid you rub onto your skin, where it bonds and stays. There's no airborne dust, which is the whole reason inhalation is a concern with powder products in the first place.

Aerogrip is an alcohol-based product, which classifies it as a flammable liquid — and flammable liquids can't be sent back through standard shipping (the same reason products like hand sanitizer are non-returnable). So we're unable to accept physical returns.
